Y factor wins

Birmingham Road Safety Partnership has been awarded a Prince Michael International Road Safety Award for its ‘Y Factor’ competition.

The citywide challenge aims to increase of 5-11 year olds understanding of using roads safely. It is in its second year, and the council says initial data suggests it has helped reduce road casualties.

The completion is open to all primary schools in Birmingham, and uses an X Factor style format to engage children with safety messages. Teams create songs about road safety, and our judged by local experts and celebrities, just like on the TV show.
