Transport Select Committee Report

18 July 2012

Included among the conclusions and recommendations of The Transport Select Committee’s report on road safety  are calls for government for:

  • A clearer explanation of the role of casualty forecasts in its road safety strategy to be set out in its annual report whether road safety is improving each year in line with its forecasts, or, if not, to explain what is going wrong.
  • An update of the initial findings of the Learning to Drive programme and an independent review of driver training to assess thoroughly the various options put forward to reduce the casualty rate for young drivers and make recommendations about which are likely to be most effective.

There are also recommendations on cycling safety, motorcycle safety and speed management.

A summary can be found here.

And the full report can be seen here.
