Prince Michael Calls for Global Action to Make Roads Safe

18 December 2007

In his speech at his annual awards ceremony on 11 December, HRH Prince Michael of Kent commenting on the success of the UK Casualty Reduction Strategy said:

‘In the future - I look forward to being able to support many more innovations for safer roads, for improved safety design in vehicles and for making drivers safer too, but would like to leave you with one thought.

Here in UK we can reduce casualties still further; however the situation in the developing world is dire – matters are getting worse not better  - so much more needs to be done. Just as was the case in this country and in many others too this will take a change in political will’

Then speaking as  patron of The Global Road Safety Commission, he added:  ‘I am delighted able to support the FIA Foundation in its Make Roads Safe Campaign – with such an objective in mind. I urge you all to add your support too.’
