Private Sector support for Drink Drive Campaigns

2 December 2008

RoadSafe welcomes the private sector support for this year the Department for Transport's THINK! campaign which is supported by Coca-Cola, offering designated drivers free soft drinks at thousands of pubs across Britain.

The THINK! campaign - with brand new radio, Internet and in-pub advertising - was launched this week. Campaign material can be found here. More on You Tube.

Alongside this, the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) will coordinate a nationwide police operation to tackle the menace of drink and drug driving over the festive period - with many forces using new digital breath testing equipment funded by the Department for Transport.

Central Scotland Police have teamed up with drinks manufacturer Diageo, the Automobile Association and Central FM for a three month Winter Journeys Campaign.

Almost half of all motorists (47%) knew someone who drinks and drives, according to an AA Populus poll of 11,388 motorists announced at the launch of the campaign.
