The Excellence in Road Safety Awards took place on Thursday, 16 October 2025, in Brussels. It brought together leading voices from government, industry, and civil society to honour the most impactful road safety initiatives.
The awards recognise the outstanding contributions of our members towards the shared goal of improved road safety across Europe. This year, the Excellence in Road Safety Awards spotlight the best innovation, dedication, and impact in creating safer roads for everyone. From tackling impaired driving to educating children, empowering older people, and leveraging technology and urban design, the 2025 winners exemplify a united vision of safer, more inclusive mobility.
Winning initiatives include:
- An easy-to-use breathalyser terminal helping people check their alcohol levels before driving
- A LEGO robotics programme where children design accident-preventing vehicles and create safe, inclusive mobility concepts
- An e-bike training scheme tailored for older adults, combining practical riding skills with a unique “train the trainer” model
- A city-wide initiative redesigning streets around 120 secondary schools with safer crossings, pavements, and traffic calming
