Penalties could encourage care

1 November 2006

According to Fleet News, the vast majority of company motorists admit the only way they would take better care of their vehicles was if they were financially penalised for damage.

Only 11% carry out regular safety checks on items such as tyres, lights, fluids and glass, and more than half admit they would lie to the fleet manager if asked whether they had performed such checks. A staggering 84% of fleet drivers said they would take better care of their company provided vehicle if they were penalised in some way for damage and unnecessary wear.
