Euro NCAP reveals today's best safety innovations

1 October 2010

EuroNCAP Advanced is a new initiative from EuroNCAP. It aims to help consumers understand the benefits of the latest safety features, which are not assessed in the current star rating.

This should give consumers a comprehensive guide on the safety of new cars, helping them make the right purchase decision. EuroNCAP also hopes it will encourage manufacturers to speed up the fitment of important safety features as standard across their ranges.

The first manufacturers rewarded for advanced technologies are:

Audi Side Assist
BMW Assist Advanced eCall
Honda Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)
Mercedes-Benz PRE-SAFE® and PRE-SAFE® Brake
Opel Eye
Peugeot Connect SOS and
Citroën Localized Emergency Call
Volkswagen Lane Assist
Volvo City Safety
