Choose ESC

5 February 2008

The ChooseESC! campaign, led by the FIA Foundation, has started 2008 with a high profile event in the European Parliament involving more than 100 participants from the Parliament, ChooseESC! members and the press.

The recently published ESC penetration rates for new car registrations in Europe show a slight improvement.  In the first half of 2007 the installation rates increased from 43% to 47%. Comparing the major European countries there is a remarkable increase in Italy (6%, passing from 35% to 41%) and Spain (5%, from 50% to 55%).  The best is Sweden (93%) but Britain with only 45% trails behind Spain.
