Arval leads the way with Road Safety Working Group

The first meeting of Arval’s Road Safety Working Group took place on 30^th October at Rockingham Motor Speedway.A case study presentation was delivered by Paul Gallemore of Wolseley and Tracey Young of Arval led an interesting discussion on key fleet safety issues affecting customers.Both Arval and Wolseley are highly active Champions of the Driving for Better Business programme.Rob Gifford of PACTS presented some important statistics and gave the discussion context by linking topics to the governments 2010 targets. Caroline Scurr, manager of the Driving for Better Business programme encouraged group members to take an active role in the programme by joining the DfBB network and used champion case studies to illustrate the benefits of managing work related road safety.Caroline said of the event.

“Arval is an excellent champion, demonstrating how it can use its own networks to communicate with staff, customers and the wider business community.Not only is Arval encouraging safety in-house for their own drivers, but its team is also keen to inform and educate their customers about the benefits of managing fleet safety effectively.The Working Group is an excellent way of encouraging dialogue between Arval and its customers.It allows members with varying types of business and fleet size to discuss problems they are experiencing and it allows individuals to share ideas and best practice.”

Following a morning of presentations and lively discussion, the group were given the opportunity to go out on the track with the team at Bosch who were demonstrating the benefits of ESC (http://www.bosch-esperience.co.uk/uk/language1/index.html).
