Richard Allsop OBE RIP

30 January 2024

The road safety community was saddened to hear the news that  Professor Richard Allsop died in January after a short illness.

Richard was a giant of road safety policy: one of the pioneers in the field of research on the effects of alcohol on driving, an advisor to the British government and a key figure in both the UK’s PACTS and European Transport Safety Council (ETSC).  To us, and many in the international road safety community, he was a friend, confidante and mentor. Richard served as on the RoadSafe Advisory Board and as a judge of The Prince Michael International Road Safety Awards for over 20 years.
