National Highways: HGV Know The Zones campaign

16 October 2023

National Highways launches wave 2 of their Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) Know the Zones campaign , which raises awareness and knowledge among road users of the limited visibility areas and vehicle limitations of HGVs. The campaign targets all road users and focuses on being aware of HGV limitations and the knowledge of blind spots and areas of limited visibility, including longer stopping distances, wider turning circles, lane restrictions, speed restrictions and size.

The campaign's target audience is all road users, including car and van drivers, as well as heavy goods vehicle (HGV) drivers.

All road users need to be aware of HGV driver limitations and this campaign aims to raise awareness and knowledge of these areas of limited visibility with road users, thereby increasing confidence. It also acts as a gentle reminder to HGV drivers to take extra care when initiating an overtake.
