World Class Road Safety Standards expected from European Nations

3 July 2009

The European Transport Safety Council ETSC is among many road safety organisations which are expecting outstanding leadership from Sweden, one of Europe’s Leaders in road safety, as it assumes the European Presidency at a time when the EU's 4th Road Safety Action Programme, is being developed against a shortfall in achieving its 2010 casualty reduction target.

Meanwhile in a year when the number of people killed in road accidents in Britain, fell by 14 per cent the government is planning to cut casualties by a further by at least 33 per cent by 2020 by adopting a strategy with a vision of making Britain 's Roads the safest in the world.
