Global Street Design Guide honoured with Royal Award

11 December 2018

Prince Michael presented an award for Road Safety Management to the National Association of City Transportation Officials for its Global Street Design Guide at a distinguished ceremony held at The Savoy, London.

The Global Street Design Guide (GSDG) provides technical guidance to support safe and sustainable street design. It is a practical resource that’s helping city leaders to reimagine and redesign roads to prioritize pedestrians, cyclists, and transit riders. With the global population shifting towards cities and urban road fatalities on the rise, it is imperative that cities adopt the strategies from the GSDG to transform streets and save lives.

It provides real-world evidence demonstrating the importance of street design for supporting road safety, collates global best practices, and provides guidance to support implementation in a range of urban contexts.

Funded under the Bloomberg Initiative for Global Road Safety, the GSDG has been downloaded more than 10,000 times and is currently being translated into Mandarin Chinese, Portuguese, and Spanish.
