Guide to Incident Investigations

23 April 2025

Driving for Better Business, the National Highways business engagement programme releases a new Incident Investigation Guide to help employers manage the risk of work-related driving, helping them to understand underlying issues and root causes, share learning and put in place measures to reduce future occurrences.

The investigation of incidents and near misses should form part of an organisation’s safety management system as well as part of its commitment to health and safety. Driving for work incidents should be treated the same as any workplace incidents, requiring investigation to identify causes and potential remedial steps to reduce the likelihood of similar events occurring in the future.
