It includes three pillars: driver training, iVMS monitoring (telematics) and feedback to drivers on their driving performance.
\r\n\r\n
Holcim's aspiration is to conduct a business with zero harm to people and to create a healthy and safe environment for employees, contractors, communities, and customers; while minimizing environmental footprint.
\r\n\r\n
Since the launch of the program, at fault fatal road crashes involving Holcim drivers have reduced by 74% compared to the 2016 baseline. In addition, road safety is now an accepted part of the organisation with each country having at least one road safety manager in place. The road safety program applies to all our own drivers as well as all those drivers from regular transporters, in total some 120,000 drivers driving some 2 billion km per year in around 100,000 trucks for 20,000 transporters in 70 countries on 6 continents. The latest figures indicate that nearly 75% of the total km driven are with drivers that have received an approved training course, 60% of the total km driven are with vehicles equipped with an iVMS that is set to record all the correct parameters and 51% of the total km driven were those where drivers have received feedback on their driving performance. Until the end of 2020, we have delivered 360,000 hours of driver training and installed iVMS in 50,000 vehicles.
\r\n\r\n
To boost safe driving, several sub-saharan countries have embraced our 'Women on Wheels' program, e.g. South Africa, Nigeria and Uganda. In Nigeria, our driving school has just seen the graduation of its first full class of female drivers, in South Africa women are empowered via the 'Accelerate_Her' program, supporting them with the means to become owner-drivers and in Uganda, our own fleet consists of 50% female drivers (see attachments).
\r\n", "Year" : "2021" } }
