Icreases in Road Casualties in UK and USA

The provisional estimates for 2021, published by the UK DfT on 25 May, show there were 1,560 road deaths, a year-on-year rise of 7%. There were also year-on-year rises in the number of KSI casualties (13%) and the total number of casualties (11%). However, figures have not returned to pre-pandemic levels.

Auto News has reported that U.S. traffic deaths jumped 10.5 percent in 2021 to 42,915 -- the highest number killed on American roads in a single-year since 2005 -- the highest number killed on American roads in a single-year since 2005, U.S. regulators said Tuesday in its preliminary estimate.

The yearly increase is the highest reported since the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration began using its current traffic fatality tracking system in 1975.
