Safety Camera debate
With the public debate continuing in the media and elsewhere, RoadSafe has been assured that a task group of ACPO and DfT officials has been establised to determine how best to support speed enforcement systems in the future with a reduced budget.
RoadSafe strongly supports the stated position at ACPO - speed cameras are the cornerstone of reducing speeding and deaths on the road.
The Transport Extra report can be seen here. Additional articles appear in The Times on 9 August, The Independent on 13 Aug and elsewhere. RoadPeace has also produced a full response to a speculative report by the Tax Payers Alliance.
