EuroNCAP names best performing cars of 2010
EuroNCAP has named the five best performing cars of 2010. The vehicles were selected as the safest in their categories for achieving high overall scores and five star ratings.
The top achievers are:
Executive category: BMW 5 Series
Small Family category: Alfa Romeo Giulietta
Supermini category: Honda CR-Z
Small off-road 4×4 category: Kia Sportage
Small MPV category: Toyota Verso
In addition to the top five, the Suzuki Swift, Kia Venga, BMW X1, VW Sharan, Seat Alhambra and Citroen C4 all exceeded 80% in their overall scores, putting them on the list of best performing cars of 2010.
Last year, EuroNCAP tested 29 vehicles and only 65% gained a five star rating. In 2009, 90% of the cars tested achieved this standard. EuroNCAP says the 25% decrease is a result of more stringent testing.
