The PACTS Autumn 2015 Conference: Managing road safety – safe system in practice on local and national roads, will take place on the 3rd November 2015 at Birmingham Council House

Delegates will hear the latest road safety strategies from the UK Government, Highways England and local authorities, including Birmingham (Europe's largest municipality) and Bristol (European Green Capital 2015).

PACTS executive director David Davies says, “The Safe System and a long-term Vision Zero for death and serious injury are now internationally-endorsed approaches to road safety management. But what do they mean in practice in the UK today? With budgets under great pressure, safety objectives must be be aligned with economic, health and sustainability goals.”

The conference will address:

• road safety leadership and management

• promoting active travel

• safer infrastructure

• achieving compliance with safe driving (users and vehicles)

• emergency services

• information, intelligence and monitoring

• the roles of the public, private and third sectors

Speakers include David Stones from Highways England, Jessica Matthew from the Department for Transport, Yvonne Mosquito, West Midlands Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner.

The event is aimed at local government officers and councillors, civil servants, police, highway and traffic engineers and road safety practitioners. Highways England and Birmingham City Council are conference partners.
