Educational Resource for the Under Fives

27 February 2007

A new colourful educational resource in a number of languages designed for the under 5’s. is available from NRSI. The resource has been created by a group of parents from Audley and Queens Park Children’s Centre, Blackburn, The Play Development Team Blackburn Diocese Board for Social Responsibility, the Neighbourhood Road Safety Initiative and Blackburn Road Safety Unit.

The resource is aimed at parents/carers reading the books at home to their children but they can be incorporated into sessions run by any Early Years Practitioner.

The pack consists of four storybooks, each conveying a simple but important road safety message for children to learn and practise as pedestrians when out with their parents or carers. There are useful suggestions and follow up activities at the back of each book for parents, carers and teachers to reinforce each road safety message.

The books are accompanied by an audio CD that also contains 8 songs. Audio CDs are available in English, Urdu, Hindi, Bangla, Punjabi and Gujarati.
