Cars: Make and model: The risk of driver injury

1 October 2006

The DfT has published "Cars: Make and Model: The Risk of Driver Injury in GB: 2000-2004." This publication presents estimates of the risk of driver injury in popular models of car, if they are involved in a two car injury accident. The statistics are based on personal injury road accident data reported to the Department for Transport by police forces within Great Britain. I shows clearly that newer models offered improved driver protection.

However the report does not show evidence of how the cars were driven.

The report can be accessed here.
