Safe System Planning Tool
A Safe System Tool offers a user-friendly interface to navigate through the International Transport Forum's framework for implementing a Safe System . The Tool helps road safety stakeholders to evaluate how their strategies, projects or plans contribute to a Safe System. It visualises opportunities for improvement and helps to identify effective interventions to save lives.
The framework provides experience-based guidance on implementing the Safe System approach. It also presents lessons from 17 case studies of road-safety interventions with a Safe System component. The case studies reveal no single recipe for successful implementation. Instead, they point to a variety of approaches conditioned by national and local contexts, and the crucial role of robust institutional governance and co-operation between partners in any successful Safe System intervention.
