Understanding HGVs

8 May 2023

Two useful and inspiring campaigns have recently been launched to tackle the challenge of HGV safety. Both are aimed at other road users to help them understand some of the realites and limitations of HGVs.

The ‘Look Beyond the Truck’ campaign was created by NRSPP to remind and recognise that within every heavy vehicle is an individual and a professional, trucking for what they love. Our truck drivers play an important role in keeping the country moving, and their stories and safety matter. ‘Look beyond the Truck’ aims to encourage other roads users to drive alongside truck drivers with respect and compassion.

Earlier in the year as we reported National Highways in UK launched its ‘ Know the zones’ – ‘blind spots’ safety campaign amid concerns about drivers’ awareness of heavy goods vehicle ‘blind spots’ when overtaking. More information as available here.
