Vehicle Safety Labelling Scheme
The world is experiencing unprecedented levels of motorisation, with nearly two billion new cars produced since 2000. Each new vehicle lacking robust safety features contributes to a growing global burden of road deaths and injuries.
Mandatory vehicle safety labelling would bring critical safety information directly to consumers, increase transparency and incentivise manufacturers to improve safety performance.
Global NCAP and Latin NCAP publish a new report, calling on governments to introduce mandatory Safety Labelling for all new cars, urging Transport Ministers to take the following steps:
- Introduce a vehicle safety labelling scheme
- Include relevant NCAP ratings for the label
- Make participation in the labelling scheme mandatory
