BT re-launches commitment to friends and family safe driving programme

13 October 2009

BT has reaffirmed its commitment to community road safety by re-launching its Family and Friends Road Safety programme to coincide with European Safety Week taking place from October 19-25.

As well as supporting Road Safety Week, the company says that the initiative is particularly important in the light of recent Department for Transport TV advertising suggesting that many road collisions happen close to home, often within the communities in which people live and work. This means that safety in the workplace can also have a major impact on employees, family members and the community.

BT, a long-time ‘business champion’ under the Driving for Better Business campaign, says that it is particularly important to the company that its staff not only drive safely while at work but also that they and their family take care at all times while using the road.

As a business, BT asks its employees to take road safety home with them, and to engage family (including brothers, children, sisters, friends, husbands, nannies, partners, sons, daughters, spouses and wives) in driving safely at all times.

BT initially launched the multi-award winning online driver training module One More Second for family members and friends as well as employees for Road Safety Week 2006.
