2nd anniversary of the United Nations Road Safety Fund

18 April 2020

April 2020 marks the 2nd anniversary of the launch of the United Nations Road Safety Fund (UNRSF).

The UNRSF is now financing 15 projects in 20 low- and middle-income countries to substantially reduce death and injuries from road crashes and to reduce economic losses resulting from these crashes.

Five projects financed by the UNRSF are already in the implementation phase as of May 2019 with a total budget of nearly USD 1 million . These pilot projects address key components of national safety systems in eight countries and are already generating first encouraging results.

The UNRSF  aims to help low- and middle-income countries put in place effective national road safety systems in order to:

  (a) substantially curb the number of fatalities and injuries from road crashes, and

   (b) reduce economic losses resulting from these crashes.
