New Highway Code Campaign
Co-Pilot has unveiled an innovative new campaign to help experienced drivers understand and adhere to the 2022 Highway Code changes. Featuring the distinctive voice of Martin Clunes, secured through the support of the British Horse Society who are Co-Pilot Partners, the campaign highlights Co-Pilot’s dedication to creating high-quality, evidence-based interventions that address real-world road safety challenges.
The 2022 Highway Code changes introduced significant updates, such as establishing a hierarchy of road users and prioritising the safety of pedestrians and cyclists . Although awareness of these changes has grown since their introduction, further action is needed to ensure widespread adoption of the recommended behaviours.
Developed in response to Co-Pilot members’ requests for additional public-facing resources on the Highway Code, the campaign addresses key areas such as pedestrian and cyclist priority at junctions, the hierarchy of road users, cyclist riding positions, and overtaking vulnerable road users. Drawing on the COM-B Behaviour Change Wheel the intervention addresses multiple factors that influence behaviour.
