Free road safety training

The Road Safety Foundation are running a number of free road safety courses funded by the DfT. Details of available courses are below, should you wish to take part, please email: kate.fuller@roadsafetyfoundation.org.uk

SAFE SYSTEM AND ROAD SAFETY ENGINEERING COURSE – 1 DAY

This course is aimed at road safety practitioners and engineers who want to know more about the Safe System and engineering within a Safe System

This is an in-person course, limited to 15 attendees on the following dates and in the following locations:

  • 25th November 2024 (10.00 - 16.00) - DfT, Great Minster House, Horseferry Road, London, SW1P 4DR
  • 18th March 2025 (10.00 -16.00) - Bracknell Enterprise and Innovation Hub, Ocean House, The Ring, Bracknell RG12 1AX

INTRODUCTION TO iRAP - 2 HOURS

This course is aimed at road safety practitioners and engineers new to iRAP and Star Rating and will provide an introduction and overview to the process and Safe System.

This is an on-line course; the dates and times are:

  • 16th January 2025 (09.00 – 11.00)
  • 13th March 2025 (09.00 – 11.00)

iRAP REVISED AND UPDATED ROUTE REVIEW TOOL (RRT) – 1.5 HOURS

This course is aimed at practitioners who have experience of iRAP surveys and would like to know more about the RRT and its new functionality

This session will demonstrate the revised and updated route review tool. It will introduce the functionality of the tool and how it works to help practitioners move towards implementation of a safe system. The date and time is:

  • 4th December 2024 (11.00 - 12.30)

iRAP EXPERT TRAINING – 4 HOURS

This course is aimed at experienced users of the iRAP model who wish to gain more information about the detail of the model (the suitability of applicants to be reviewed)

This is an on-line course; the dates and times are:

  • 19th November 2024 (10.00 – 14.00)
  • 13th February 2025 (10.00 – 14.00)

iRAP STAR RATINGS FOR DESIGN – 2.5 HOURS

This is an on-line course and will provide attendees with an overview of what Star Ratings for Designs is and how it can be used for major road transformations or new roads like bypasses. 

The dates and times are:

  • 24th October 2024 (09.30 – 12.00)
  • 22nd January 2024 (09.30 – 12.00)
