Multi-Disciplinary Collision Investigations training to improve road safety
In a significant step towards improving road safety in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and the Republic of Serbia, more than 30 road safety stakeholders from key BiH ministries and road authorities recently gathered in Neum for a series of workshops on Multi-Disciplinary Collision Investigations (MDCI). Organized by UNECE and the World Health Organization (WHO), the workshops aimed to familiarize participants with MDCI methodology and its potential to enhance the road safety system.
The workshops provided participants with hands-on training in analysing real road crashes and using MDCI data to make informed policy decisions. The aim was to demonstrate how a multi-disciplinary approach to collision investigation can help identify the root causes of crashes and guide the development of more effective road safety laws, regulations, and standards.
The MDCI pilot workshops are expected to lay the groundwork for legislative changes in both countries, with the methodology offering a promising approach to reduce road fatalities and enhance road safety legislation.
