Safer Roads Humber

3 March 2010

Safer Roads Humber is the road safety partnership for the Humber region. Its aim is to reduce the number of people killed or seriously injured on the region’s roads. Safer Roads Humber is working closely with the Driving for Better Business campaign to support their activities by bringing a range of multi-agency personnel and skills to the campaign’s work.

The partnership comprises the East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Her Majesty’s Court Service, the Highways Agency, Hull City Council, the Humberside Fire and Rescue Service, the Humberside Police, North East Lincolnshire Council and North Lincolnshire Council. The partnership also works closely with the Armed Forces Defence School of Transport and the local National Health Service Primary Care Trust.

The partnership has undertaken a detailed analysis of the crashes and casualties within the region. As a result of this work it has identified three priorities areas for reducing casualties. These are amongst young people, motorcyclists and those driving for work.

Safer Roads Humber is working closely with the Driving for Better Business campaign to support their activities by bringing a range of multi-agency personnel and skills to the campaign’s work. Safer Roads Humber has already supported and presented at several Driving for Better Business events and has provided detailed research on the dangers of hands free mobile phones to a range of businesses in the region.

Safer Roads Humber is working closely with Driving for Better Business Champion M&G Vehicle Hire, a Hull based subsidiary of Northgate, Europe’s largest rental and leasing firm to work through local employer networks and associations to deliver awareness to a business audience about the business benefits of managing drivers effectively.
