Advanced Driving - Poor uptake but hope with company drivers.

20 March 2010

Our Expert panel met on 16 March to consider advanced driving. It found that there was no doubt that interventions such as speed management courses and the driver improvement courses made a real difference to driver behaviour. In reality there was little uptake with some 150K motorists currently qualified advanced drivers.

However the area where most success could be achieved was with sound policies for those who drive for work. In many cases it was clear that there had been a significant shift in behaviour even without further driver training – the company policies and advice.
