Support needed for Daylight Saving Bill

8 December 2011

PACTS reports that Rebacca Harriss' Private Member's Bill on Daylight Saving completed its Committee Stage in the House of Commons on 6 December . There was a series of government amendments to the Bill that have clarified the position with regard to the devolved administrations and strengthened the role of the Oversight Group that will look at the evidence for change.

The Bill is now scheduled for Report and Third Reading on January 20. This is a very important stage if the Bill is to stand any chance of achieving Royal Assent. We need 100 MPs present on January 20 to vote for closure. This is where your help will be vital.

If you support the principles of the Bill - that we need a proper review of the evidence supporting daylight saving - PACTS asks that you to contact your MP and persuade him or her to attend the debate on January 20. The more contact that MPs have from people with an interest in the issue, the more likely the chances of ensuring the maximum attendance.
