Technology to avoid one in three fatal crashes

8 December 2011

eSafety technology could could prevent or mitigate one out of every three fatal crashes and one out of every five crashes that result in serious or moderate injury.

This is a finding of new research by The US National Highway Transportation Safety Administration which also estimates 81% of all light-vehicle crashes involving unimpaired - or non-drinking or drug-taking - drivers could be prevented by intelligent vehicles.

Further valuable information on e-safety technologies can be found here and comment on the value of these is available on the BBC News Magazine.
