Global Road Safety Week
The focus of the third UN Global Road Safety Week from the 4th-10th May 2015 is child road safety, using the slogan #SaveKidsLives. The international road safety community is seeking to highlight the plight of children on the world’s roads, and generate action to better ensure their safety.
Plans in the UK being led by Road Safety GB include creating opportunities for road safety professionals to interact with colleagues in other parts of the world. They also include raising awareness of safety in developing countries. A range of excellent educational resources are available.
RSGB has established a database of practitioners with specific skills and expertise in child road safety, and highlighted practitioners who work with ethnic groups - to enable them to ‘twin’ or ‘partner’ with road safety professionals from similar ethnic groups around the world.
Businesses and organisations may wish to support this work or take action on there own to promote in-car safety or safer routes to school or indeed many other areas of child road safety in their own community.
