West Yorkshire to deliver a Safe System through its Vision Zero Strategy

20 August 2024

West Yorkshire has launched its Vision Zero strategy to eliminate all traffic deaths and serious injuries, while increasing safe, healthy, equitable mobility for all.

It states that no deaths or serious injuries are acceptable and argues for the joint responsibility of all road users for safety, alongside all those who plan, design, build, maintain, legislate, and enforce the transport system. An objective by adopting a Safe System approach to deliver Vision Zero across West Yorkshire was included in the Police and Crime Plan to reflect this concern. The West Yorkshire Combined Authority has committed to eliminating road deaths and serious injuries on the county's roads by 2040

The plan is available here.
