2023 TyreSafe Briefing

The 2023 Tyre Safe Briefing , hosted by TyreSafe is now available to view. It is the tyre safety charity’s premier event of the year and invites all tyre and road safety stakeholders to join the campaign to raise awareness of the importance of regular tyre checks.

The briefing covered:

1. TyreSafe's New Direction: An introduction to TyreSafe's mission and background, highlighting our unwavering commitment to advocating for safer roads through tyre safety awareness and the safe systems approach.

2. Tyre Safety Month: "Safe and Save" Campaign: Insights into TyreSafe's latest campaign, "Safe and Save," which encourages motorists to prioritize tyre safety. This engaging campaign underscores the dual benefits of staying safe on the road while also saving money.

3. Latest Tread Depth Survey Research: An overview of our recent tread depth survey research, which examined over half a million tyres at the point of replacement. This research provides invaluable data on tyre conditions and the need for regular checks. TyreSafe welcomed an introduction from Mark Cartwright, Head of Commercial Vehicle Incident Prevention, National Highways. His colleague Beverley Hannah, Regional Safety Programme Manager South West, gave further details of how the research will be used to inform on-ground activities.

4. Forging New Partnerships: Details about our efforts to forge partnerships with various road safety organizations, expanding our presence and influence in the road safety arena. Tyres are the only point of contact between a vehicle and the road, making tyre safety a crucial component of overall road safety.

5. Participation in Working Groups: The importance of TyreSafe's active participation in various working groups, including those focused on Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), to stay at the forefront of conversations and developments in the industry.
