Driving for Work initiatives recognised with Royal Award

10 December 2019

Shell India and Vision Spring – Eye Camps initiative, has been honoured with a Royal Award.

Some 26percent of fatalities on India’s roads involve commercial vehicles. As one element of its programme to reduce this risk, Shell India has partnered with VisionSpring to provide commercial drivers with free eye tests and free glasses.

In its pilot phase the programme to improve safety, quality of life and self-esteem of the drivers, screened 38,000 drivers and mechanics – glasses were provided for 27,000. Eye camps are now being expanded to reach ten times this number.
