International Road Safety Conference 2019
The International Road Safety Conference will take place between the 3rd and the 4th September 2019.
It aims to bring together ministers, road safety experts and private sector representatives from across the globe. The 2-day event will focus on collaborative learning, with topics to be discussed including Vision Zero, the safe systems approach, and technology and innovation. It will include:
Day 1: Ministerial Summit
The Ministerial Summit will involve keynote speeches from road safety experts. It will be an opportunity for discussion and sharing of best practice in the areas of common challenge which we face when tackling road safety globally. The overall theme is technology and innovation in road safety and how we can support each other in improving road safety.
Topics to be discussed include:
- Vision Zero
- the safe systems approach
- the Commonwealth Road Safety Initiative
- the next decade of UN road safety action
Day 2: CENEX Low Carbon Vehicle Event and Connected and Autonomous Vehicle Event
This showcase will focus on technology and road safety in a collaboration between Department for Transport, the UK’s Centre for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles and the Department for International Development.
The day will involve presentations and breakout sessions with demonstrations and discussions of how new and innovative technology can improve road safety.
