International Road Safety Conference website

27 September 2019

The International Road Safety Conference held in September, brought together ministers, road safety experts and private sector representatives from across the globe.

The Ministerial Summit involved insightful keynote speeches from road safety experts and was an excellent opportunity for discussion and the sharing of best practice in areas of common challenges we all face in tackling road safety globally. The overall theme was technology and innovation in road safety and support for the developing world to improve road safety performance, with key topics to be discussed including Vision Zero and the Safe Systems Approach, as well as further discussion of the Commonwealth Road Safety Initiative and the next decade of UN Road Safety action.

All delegates were also invited to Millbrook test track for the CENEX Low Carbon Vehicle event and Connected and Autonomous Vehicle event which showcased a focus on technology and road safety. This showcase was in collaboration with the United Kingdom’s Centre for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles, and the Department for International Development. It involved exciting presentations and breakout sessions with demonstrations and discussions of how new and innovative technology can improve road safety.
