Sesame Workshop on Mission to Make World's Roads Safe for Children and Their Families

Sesame Street's BLUE Grover has been named the Global Road Safety Ambassador and will be sporting the YELLOW  Decade of Road Safety tag to help raise awareness about safe road. Across the globe, whatever the physical, social, cultural, political or economic environment children live in, road traffic safety is a relevant issue. From birth, children confront the dangers of roads and vehicles - as passengers and pedestrians, on bicycles and in play on or near streets and roadways. Child road traffic injuries are not inevitable and can be prevented.

Sesame Workshop became a member of Global Road Safety Partnership in 2010 and has further committed to make road safety awareness a “top-of-mind issue among road users,” and incorporate road safety content into all local Sesame programs. In support of the UN’s Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020, Grover will put his considerable diplomatic skills to use as a Road Safety Ambassador to help raise awareness and promote safe road practices.
