Road Safety Calculator
The World Bank Global Road Safety Facility (GRSF), Iowa State University and Monash University hosted a series of outreach webinars intending to collect the audience thoughts on the Road Safety Calculator – a new tool that is being developed by GRSF with funding from the UK Aid, to support road safety strategy selection in low- and middle-income countries.
This new tool is intended to allow practitioners to quantify the benefits of implementing road safety strategies. The objective is to help government agencies and non-governmental organizations set priorities for road safety interventions in the areas of road user behavior, vehicle safety features, roadway infrastructure, and traffic speed management.
As part of this process, through a series of webinars the project team gathered information about the characteristics and needs of potential tool users. With more than 200 participants over 3 days, each session provided an overview of the tool, followed by group discussions to learn more about desirable applications of the tool, country-specific data, policy constraints, and information and training needs.
