Speed management: understanding the new technology

06 May 2025 Webinar

Project EDWARD explores the latest innovations in speed management and road safety technology and hear how cutting-edge solutions are revolutionising our approaches to speed management and traffic safety.

They are joined by industry experts to discuss the impact of these technologies on reducing collisions and enhancing road infrastructure, and gain insights into future trends and strategies for implementing effective speed management systems.

Discover how AI-powered enforcement systems are revolutionising traffic monitoring - detecting not just speeding, but a wide range of dangerous behaviours, from mobile phone use to seatbelt violations, all with unprecedented accuracy and efficiency, and delve into the potential of Intelligent Speed Assistance (ISA), a technology hailed as one of the most effective new tools for casualty reduction.

This event brings together leading voices and innovators to unpack how artificial intelligence, telematics, and in-vehicle technologies are reshaping our approach to speed and safety.

This is the second in a comprehensive series of four webinars, focusing on speed management and its crucial role in creating safer roads for all, guided by the Safe System Approach. Within the Safe System, speed management is recognised as a fundamental component, working in harmony with other elements such as road design, vehicle safety, and road user behaviour to create a forgiving road environment.

The course of four sessions, will examine various aspects of speed management, exploring its impact on road safety and showcasing proven strategies for reducing casualties. Each webinar will build upon the last, providing a comprehensive understanding of the topic considering effective communications strategies, the need for speed management in rural communities, the specific threat of inappropriate or illegal use of speed on vulnerable road users and the effective implementation of safer speed strategies among fleet operators.
