Business champion Northgate introduce winter driving packs

Driving for Better business champion Northgate Vehicle Hire has issued all of its 450 plus collection and delivery drivers with their own winter driving packs.

They consist of an illuminated warning triangle, ice scraper, torch, first aid kit and vest together with a Northgate Vehicle Hire branded carrying case.

With the onset of freezing driving conditions, fog and wet roads, Northgate Vehicle Hire has underlined its award-winning safety credentials with the issuing of these winter driving packs.

The company is the UK’s largest vehicle hire business with a fleet of more than 60,000 cars and vans available from 62 locations.

Colin Gilstin, group safety and environment manager, said, “Providing a safe workplace for our employees is of paramount importance and that includes when they are collecting and delivering vehicles.

“For our collection and delivery drivers the vehicle is very much their workplace so it is essential that we provide them with the tools to ensure they are safe as possible on the roads.

“All of our collection and delivery drivers are expected to carry the packs with them at all times when driving at work.”

As well as gaining business champion status, last year Northgate Vehicle Hire had its reputation for promoting health and safety to employees and customers recognised with the Gold Award from Driving for Better Business partner the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents’ (RoSPA).
